Volunteers are the most important resources Hartford’s Camp Courant has. The ability of people to work together for the betterment of the Hartford community and its children is an invaluable resource to Camp. There are a number of ways to volunteer with Camp throughout the year, including:
Our partnership with Foodshare has helped provide our Campers and their families with meals for the weekend during the Camp season. This year will be the same however for the 2020 camp season, we will be bringing this program right to our families, with 8 distribution locations in Hartford. Each Friday morning (with the first week being the exception), from 8:30am -9:00am, Campers & their families will be able to come to one of the distribution sites to pick up their program materials for the following week, as well as meals for the weekend. But in order to do so, we’ll need help from our most important resource, our volunteers!
For 6 weeks ( Wednesday 7/1, Friday 7/10,Friday 7/17, Friday 7/24, Friday 7/31, Friday 8/7), we will need volunteers to be at Camp Courant, 96 Batterson Park Road, Farmington at 7:30am to load their vehicles with grocery bags (approximately 25 per car) and transport these packages to a designated distributionbsite in Hartford. There you will meet a staff member from Foodshare, who will be your point person. They will provide direction and assist with set-up and distribution of food. The Camp Courant/Summer Foodshare For Kids sites will be open from 8:30am -9am.
Each of the sites will need 4-5 volunteers each week, totaling 45 volunteers weekly for six weeks. If you are can be available for any of these times, please let us know as soon as possible. This will be a collaborative effort.
