The lifeguards supervise campers during swimming periods. Duties include providing a safe environment for all campers and adhering to waterfront regulations promulgated by the State of Connecticut Department of Health. Job requirements include: current certification in American Red Cross CPR for professional rescuer or equivalent; current certification in American Red Cross lifeguard training or equivalent; excellent interpersonal skills in working with adults and children.
The ‘Finance Is Fun’ program at Hartford’s Camp Courant provides an introduction to the fundamentals of earning and spending money, and helps lay the foundation for understanding personal finance.
Hartford’s Camp Courant Healthy Choices program is designed to teach campers how to be pro-active in living a smart and healthy lifestyle by engaging in daily activities that expand their knowledge about health and wellness. Activities range from gardening and grocery shopping on a budget to a tour of the Knox Parks community gardens and Zumba lessons.
The objective of the Nature Program is to motivate, inspire and increase campers understanding about the natural world. Lessons focus on recycling, gardening, composting, and introductions to environmental and natural science topics.. In addition to the regular Nature programming, Hartford’s Camp Courant created a Nature Club to allow campers to be even more involved with focused areas like trail maintenance, hiking, and field trip opportunities.
