Camp FAQs

If you live in the City of Hartford and your child is between the ages of five-twelve, then your child is eligible to attend Hartford’s Camp Courant.

Registration forms are now available online and can only be accessed from Camp Courant’s website.  Click ‘Register’ to begin the online application.  To be considered, applications much be filled out completely and correctly, and must be completed by a parent of guardian. The last day to register for the 2021 Camp Season is Friday, June 25th, 2021.

If spaces open up, registrants on the wait list, in the order the registrations were received, will be notified by email that they may attend. Attendance will be monitored daily and evaluated weekly to determine how many children on the wait list will be able to attend Camp.

All parents/guardians will receive a confirmation email after the online application is complete and you’ve clicked SUBMIT.  This does not guarantee your camper is enrolled for the 2021 summer camp season.  No spot is guaranteed until all the required medical forms have been uploaded.  Once we receive and review the medical documents, you will then receive a SECOND (2nd) confirmation email indicating your camper has a guaranteed spot.

You will have the option to select one of the bus stops on registration list that is most convenient to you.

Children must be at their designated bus stop no later than 8:30 am to be picked up for Camp. If your child misses the bus, he or she may not attend Camp that day. For the safety of our campers, parents are not permitted to drop off their child at Camp. Drop off is between 3:00 and 3:30 pm. Available bus stops are listed on the registration form. A counselor is at every bus stop to supervise and take attendance.  Parents will be asked to stay in their car during pick up and drop off.  We ask the person dropping off to wear a face covering.  You will be asked a series of Health Screening questions prior to child getting out of the car.  The child will be required to take a ‘pump’ of hand sanitizer on the way to meet their group/load the bus if the health screening is passed.  Children will be picked up and dropped off at neighborhood bus stops, therefore mixing age groups for transportation.  Masks will be required while on the bus, however, the risk of interaction with children on the bus remains as contact with other campers will be unavoidable.

Parents Day will be held Saturday, June 12th, 2021 from 10:00am – 12:00pm.  Transportation will not be provided.  Parents are guardians are invited to the camp site for a tour, and will have the opportunity to meet with the program staff to learn about all of the programs offered at Camp Courant over the summer.  Information regarding Parents Day will be sent electronically and an RSVP is required.

All activities and services provided by Hartford’s Camp Courant are offered FREE of charge to Hartford’s children.

We suggest your child bring a bathing suit and a towel to Camp. If your child does not have a bathing suit or towel, one will be provided. Hartford’s Camp Courant is not responsible for personal belongings, and strongly suggests that your child does not bring anything valuable to Camp. We also suggest you write your child’s name on everything he or she wears or brings to Camp, and that he or she wear closed-toed shoes.

There is a section on the registration form for you to indicate whether or not your child will attend summer school. Once summer school begins, your child will be removed from the registration list. If your child’s summer school status changes, please contact Mily Navedo, Administrative Service Manager, at 860-244-2835.
